In recognition of Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, our rescue was honored to welcome Daniela, one of our amazing volunteers, along with members of her military unit. They spent the day walking dogs, giving cuddles, and showing our rescue animals the kind of love every pet and person deserves.
Nearly 1 in 5 veterans experience mental health challenges such as depression or PTSD.
Studies show that time with animals can reduce stress, lower blood pressure, and ease feelings of isolation.
Simply walking a dog or petting a cat can release endorphins and serotonin which are known to be natural mood boosters that support mental wellness.
Suicide Prevention Awareness Month is about shining light, sharing hope, and reminding others that they are never alone.
We’re grateful to Daniela and her fellow service members for spending time with our rescue dogs, creating joy for not just the animals–but themselves. Together, we can support both people and pets in finding healing and connection.
