Our Story

MELONY AND REBA — This touching story began when Melony Daniels and her beloved Golden Retriever, Reba, became a part of each other’s lives. Melony’s passion for animals was natural and deep. She knew that animals needed loving homes and safe environments. Injured, abused, or neglected, Melony wanted to find a way to help them.

Soon she realized the need for a place dedicated to the permanent care of animals in need with an opportunity for adoption. Reba, the family pet, was her inspiration. Tragically, before her dream could come true, Melony passed away.

Her loving husband and children are now dedicated to making her vision a reality. Created in 2011, Reba’s Rescue is a respected and growing nonprofit, 501(c)(3) that operates an Adoption Center-opened in November of 2023. Reba’s Rescue offers partnership opportunities locally and across the region for effective animal welfare advocacy.

In its next phase of development, Reba’s Rescue seeks to create a state-of-the-art, multi-acre Rescue, Rehabilitation, Adoption, and Sanctuary Center for dogs, cats, and horses. Humane education, community outreach, and veterinary training opportunities will be a significant focus of the center to foster the human-animal bond that meant so much to Melony. Melony’s love for her family and animals is celebrated thanks to Reba’s Rescue.

Our Mission

The mission of Reba’s Rescue is to provide a loving and safe environment for animals needing rescue, care, and rehabilitation while welcoming the opportunity for eventual adoption.

Our Vision

Our long-term vision is to establish a multi-acre permanent facility dedicated to the rescue, care, rehabilitation, and adoption of animals in need, including dogs, cats, and horses. This state-of-the-art facility will be home to a humane education center and veterinary clinic. It will be a landmark in the community and region in memory of Melony Daniels’s dream.

Our Gratitude

Reba’s Rescue is a registered 501(c)(3)non-profit, private organization that relies on support from compassionate individuals, businesses, foundations and other organizations. Reba’s is also the recipient of fundraising opportunities available through approved, charitable gaming, authorized by Virginia Statute and regulated by the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
